  • Backhand Around the Post
  • Look for a wide dink hit sharply at an angle especially if it is landing short in the kitchen. The shorter the shot, the easier the ATP will be.
  • Once you recognize an opportunity move out wide ahead of the ball so you have time to set up for your around the post. Execution is much easier when you are waiting for the ball.
  • Let the ball drop as low as possible before contacting it. The net is no longer an obstacle and the wider you allow the ball to go, the more court you have to hit to. This also makes potential defense of your ATP more difficult since your shot will come in lower to your opponent.
  • Good lunging knee bend to get down low to strike the ball near the ground.
  • Paddle face slightly open at contact by keeping your wrist cocked up.
  • Attempt to hit the outside of the ball to get it to curl back into the court.
  • Attempt an ATP when you are moving sideways or slightly forward. Avoid going for an ATP moving backwards since you will be off balance and will have less court to hit to.

Pro Tips

BEN JOHNS

My favorite strategy drill is the Backhand Volley Attack from the Ad Court because it such an effective shot. Practice this and you will win more points!

COLLIN JOHNS

My favorite drill is the Dink Reset Drill because it is so important to work on staying patient and ressetting yourself.

DEKEL BAR

I love to drive the ball so the Drive and Drop Drill is a key component of my game.
