PICKLEBALL 360
- MISDIRECTION DINK
- Ben Johns

Hi, I'll be going over the technical aspects of the misdirection dink. So we're going to start out just thinking Cross Court just like this. Very standard nothing new here. Now a misdirection dink is essentially changing the direction of the ball suddenly and kind of at the last second of your shot. So I'm going Cross Court here and then So I'm going Cross Court here. and then something like that. So the first thing you want to know about a misdirection dink is you're attempting to still hit a dink that bounces but you're also heading it lower to the net with a little more pace and a little deeper. And the reason for this is your opponent should be not expecting this shot as much because it's kind of sudden and that should allow you to employ the area just a little bit more. Now you can see on that one. I was going across court and the reason that I got it down the line so quickly and easily is opening the wrist. So normally your wrist is closed. It's coming across your body like this for a misdirection dink down the line. We're simply still taking that kind of Swing path, but opening the wrist and the last second going this way. So instead of Crossing open. And push down the line. So you're still starting the stroke out Cross Court and then You're changing at the last second. Let's see that one again. Still Cross Court here. crosscourt swing and misdirection All right. So that's the one down the line and like I said, you should be aiming a little deeper than say your opponent's left foot and closer to the sideline. Of course. This is kind of an advanced shot. You're going over the high part of the net and you're hitting it pretty close to sideline. So it's okay if you missed it occasionally, but it's something to experiment with and kind of find your range. All right. Now, let's go over one where we misdirect it in a different spot. This one will often work. Well when you push your opponent out wide on this side so you can see over there. He's going out wide Cross Court expecting another Cross Court dink. And then I get one kind of in the middle. I'm not going so far to the middle so that the ad Court player is able to reach it. But my player that I'm rallying Cross Court with is gonna be thrown off because he's expecting something cross scored again over here, but instead it goes more towards his left foot that's gonna push him back through the court. He's gonna have to hit a recovery dink that will often set me up for an offensive opportunity on the next shot. Let's see that one more time. So again, we are opening the wrist. We're keeping it lower to the net and we're hitting with a little more pace and a little more depth so you can see going this way at the last second opening the wrist towards the middle and following through more that way rather than following through across court, so you can see going this way at the last second opening the wrist towards the middle and following through more that way rather than following through Cross Court. So once again, we're dinking Cross Court, Pretty normal. Nothing to see here. back to the Cross Court Normal And you can see right there opening the wrist going down the line you'll get your setup shot and remember to lean in and look for that put away on the next shot. Thinking Cross Court. He's expecting another Cross Court Cross Court swing misdirection to the middle. And that gives me my setup shot. Cross Court swing misdirection to the middle and that gives me my setup shot. And there you have the misdirection date.
