PICKLEBALL 360
- BACKHAND CROSSCOURT DINK
- Ben Johns

Hi, we'll be going over the technical aspects of the backhand Cross Court dink your most basic dink that you should always know how to hit and should be your go-to shot. So some things you want to focus on while you're hitting the shot is first your footwork. You want to make sure that you're getting in a position that allows you to hit the ball in your ideal spot and your strikes in every time. So for most people it's around knee height and slightly in front of them. You don't want to let the ball get too deep on you like back here. You don't want to be reaching for the ball out here. You want that nice easy Comfort Zone on every shot and that requires footwork. As far as the stroke goes because we're getting this ball to bounce in the kitchen. We want a slightly open face and a slightly down to upswing to get that ball up and over the net. There may be some incidental spin on this shot, but it's not important to have it's just fine if you get some. Some technical aspects of the shot that you want to consider are what are your wrists and your arm and your body doing your body should stay mostly stationary just some slight hip rotation as you go through the shot. You can also see that all of this comes from your shoulder your shoulder and your whole arm are moving together. You're not bending your elbow and you're not bending your wrist. It's just the shoulder just like a pendulum from from the shoulder doing all the swinging some common mistakes that you see with your most basic dink. Our first wrist flick is flicking your wrist as you're hitting this will lose you control and cause the ball to off and go too far into the core. Another thing is your back swing your backswing should go no further than the side of your body if you're taking a swing back here. You're just off and going to miss time the ball and not hit it where you want it since you're only hitting the ball seven to ten feet. It's really going to be very easy to generate the amount of power you want with a nice small swing. Most of it is just gonna be forward instead of a backswing. And there you have your basic backhand Cross Court dink.
