PICKLEBALL 360
- Backhand Roll Volley Dink
- Ben Johns

Hi, I'll be going over the technical aspects of the backhand roll volley dink. So a roll volley dink is something you're taking out of the air and hitting a dink off of but you're getting top spin off of instead of the normal backspin. So this some more advanced shot than what you're used to hitting as a dink and it's more difficult, but can it can also throw opponents off a lot because they don't see it very much and it can be really difficult to control and handle. so the first thing you want to do is your wrist needs to be slightly open. So the paddle face is a little bit open. You're not generating topspin by closing the paddle face because the paddle won't grip the ball enough. We want that paddle face slightly open and then you're swinging more upwards rather than through in contrast to a normal dink. Another thing people do a lot is they flip the wrist. All right, that is gonna generate too much power and Pop the ball too far. It'll become attackable very easily. So you want to make sure almost more than any other shot that you keep this wrist entirely locked and it's not moving in this Dimension at all. So why is Top Spin good off your dick? You might ask? And the reason is it's gonna jump a lot and you're gonna get some pop-ups. And that can cause an attack. It's going to be a lot easier to hit off of a normal dink which usually has a little bit of backspin. So when you receive a ball you can comfortably reach out of the air. You're not stretching too far. It's right about here. It's good side to side. It's not behind your body. It's not weighing in front of your body right about here your strike zone. That's going to be an ideal ball to hit this off of if that dink has a lot of pace or a lot of Top Spin. It's gonna be pretty difficult to control. So you probably just want to hit a normal defensive dink. But if you get that nice one that you feel comfortable with and it has a little bit of backspin you can easily generate a lot of Top Spin on your dank. That's gonna cause some errors one last thing is once you make contact in front of your body you want to make sure that there's no significant backswing and there's only a little bit of follow through you're basically going from here to about here. So last thing you want to concentrate on is how much backswing and follow through you have so you can see I'm making contact right about here and it's starting no further back than right about here. Very minimal backswing on this shot. It's very important to be prepared and ready for the ball already outstretched waiting for it. And then you follow through is only a little bit because you're not trying to generate almost any power at all because it's just a small part of the Court. You're definitely trying to get this ball to bounce. So remember very small swing keep it under control. And there you have the backhand roll volley dink.
